MATERNAL SUNSHINE YOGA
Pregnancy & Beyond
THE BENEFITS OF YOGA DURING PREGNANCY
It is recommended for women to exercise in pregnancy as there are many advantages, but it's not the time to start a new sport or fitness regime. That's why yoga is perfect for pregnancy and beyond. It's very gentle and suits beginners and those with a good yoga practice equally.
The benefits now being documented are;
natural pain relief techniques
positive impact on maternal and infant mental health
helps to manage pelvic girdle pain (PGP).
strengthens pelvic floor muscles

About Maternal Sunshine Yoga
My name is Kelly, I'm mum to an energetic 6 year old, a lively 3 year old and I am Maternal Sunshine Yoga. I have 10 years experience as an NHS midwife and I am also a registered antenatal educator & pregnancy yoga teacher. I've always been interested in yoga but it was during my first pregnancy that my love for yoga really began. It helped me with my endless complaints of pregnancy (nausea, vomiting, PGP, headaches, oedema to name a few!) but the bonding that took place between us is hard to describe. When he finally arrived in my arms, I felt as if I knew him already. As he grew, we enjoyed mum & baby yoga together which was a very positive experience during a time of infant reflux (but that's another story!). I continued to practice yoga during my second pregnancy and now both my little ones love to copy me whenever I get a spare 5 minutes for my own practice! I'm very passionate about women's health and maternal mental health in particular.
